Biography

Bryan Scyphers received a bachelor’s degree in education from Virginia Tech and a master’s degree in higher education from the University of North Carolina. He holds the Certified Emergency Manager (CEM®) credential and has also been a certified paramedic since 1981.

Bryan is employed when needed for the US Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Emergency Management and Medical Operations, serving as a Planning Section Chief (Type 1) on the HHS Incident Management Team (IMT). The IMT is similar to the FEMA national IMAT, but dedicated to Emergency Support Function #8, providing the command and control coordination for federal public health and medical responses, as well as the health and social services recovery support function.
