Biography

With more than 35 years of experience, Brent Hathaway brings an astute knowledge and understanding of business and higher education. Hathaway was named the first Lee Professor when joining UNLV in 2013 and currently serves as the Ted and Doris Lee Professor of Business. His previous role was dean of the Lee Business School where he led the development of a robust strategic plan, AACSB re-accreditation, expanded student career services, served on the president search committee and chaired the executive vice president and provost recruiting committee. He raised more than $22 million, including funding for the Kerestesi Center for Insurance and Risk Management, the Mel Larson Chair in Marketing, Troesh Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and tripled Lee Business School student scholarships.

Prior to joining UNLV, Hathaway was the dean of the College of Business at the University of Wyoming and chair of the Marketing and Management Department. There, he co-founded the Wyoming Business Leadership Institute, the Wyoming Business Hall of Fame, created an executive online MBA program, launched the Johnson Career Center, launched a Ph.D. program that enhanced programs in ethics and sustainability, created and funded five endowed professorships and raised $53 million for facility upgrades for a total impact on the college of over $100 million.

In addition to academic leadership, Hathaway has extensive experience in the business sector.  He served as the president and general manager for Concord, Inc., vice president of marketing and sales for Allied Signal and Honeywell International, and director of marketing for Case Corporation and has served on multiple public and private boards.
