Biography
Belen Hernandez's background includes higher education, program coordination, and private-sector leadership. In her current role, she supports daily operations and helps keep departmental programs and initiatives on track, drawing on strong organizational skills and a collaborative, hands-on approach.
Before stepping into this role, Belen worked as a program coordinator with the National Institute for the Advancement of Education (NIAE), where she supported a range of education-focused programs. She also spent three years as a go-to-college ambassador through the AmeriCorps program under the College Access Challenge Grant, working closely with NSHE institutions, the Clark County School District, and community partners to expand college access and readiness for low-income students.
Earlier in her career, Belen spent three years in the private sector in upper management roles, supporting large-scale operations and teams. Her experience included sales, employee development, fleet management, and customer service, giving her a practical perspective she brings into her work today.
Belen earned her bachelor of science in hospitality management from the UNLV's William F. Harrah College of Hospitality, where she developed a strong foundation in leadership and service.
