Amy Smitherman is a certified research administrator with more than 13 years of experience in research administration and compliance. She has extensive expertise in regulatory interpretation and sponsor guideline analysis, supporting principal investigators and collaborating institutions across a wide range of funding sources, including federal, foundation, local, private industry, and state sponsors.

Amy currently serves as the senior research administrator for Pre-Award at UNLV, where she has been a member of the research administration community since 2022. Prior to joining UNLV, she spent nine years at Clemson University, including seven years in Pre-Award administration and two years overseeing human subjects research compliance. Her experience spans proposal development and submission, regulatory review, and ensuring institutional adherence to complex funding requirements.

She holds undergraduate degrees in accounting and business administration, along with a Master of Public Administration. Amy is recognized for her collaborative approach, analytical precision, and commitment to advancing research excellence through strong compliance and administrative leadership.
