Biography

Amy is a native Las Vegan and comes to UNLV following 18 years of teaching high school mathematics in the Clark County School District. Amy joined the U.S. Navy after high school and attended community college while stationed in San Diego. After an honorable discharge, she completed her undergraduate work and earned a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of North Texas in 1998. After teaching for several years Amy went back to school and earned her M.Ed. from UNLV in 2010. Amy joined UNLV as the Gateway Math Placement Coordinator in 2022. In her position, Amy coordinates and delivers math placement procedures for incoming and continuing undergraduate students. She is responsible for all student ALEKS accounts, test policies and procedures, partnerships with colleagues/programs that use ALEKS, all student inquiries, and assessment of the effectiveness of ALEKS.
