Amber Sorgato earned her BFA in dance from The Boston Conservatory and an MFA in choreography from Wilson College. She enhanced her training at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Harvard University, and Goddard College. Sorgato was grateful to perform professionally including, The Rockettes, Elton John, The World Music Awards, Luc Plamondon’s Notre Dame de Paris, and as an original cast member in Celine Dion’s long-running show A New Day. She choreographed That Sentimental Swing, voted the Best Long-Running Casino Show outside Las Vegas. In addition, she was the artistic director of a performing arts program for over thirteen years.

In 2020, she directed and remotely choreographed the dance film Archetype, which investigated the societal pressures on women as seen through the lens of female archetypes. Her research includes: Creating a healthy bioregion for dancers navigating the dance world biosphere, Investigating the intersection of storytelling and social justice, and Somatic studies as a tool to empower young artists. She believes dance is interdisciplinary as it possesses structure, technique, cultural connection, generational connection, and a sharing of conceptual energy. Sorgato is passionate about creating a space where all are welcome and is thrilled to be joining UNLV.
