Althea Sheets brings more than twenty years of university-setting experience. She holds two bachelor degrees, Accounting and Communication Studies, from the University of Idaho.

In her role as Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activities Development Manager, she identifies external funding sources (including early career and minority serving institution opportunities), manages limited submissions and internal faculty awards (i.e. Harry Reid Silver State Research Award, Barrick Scholar Awards, Faculty Opportunity Awards and NSHE Regents' Creative Activities, Researcher, and Rising Researcher Awards) to support the mission of the Division of Research. With the goal to provide all of the necessary resources and support for enabling faculty, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, professional residents, undergraduate students, and research staff to be successful in obtaining external research funding and conducting their research.

Prior to joining UNLV, she was the Communications Specialist for four years at the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Sponsored Programs and EPSCoR office. Before UNLV, Althea was the Communications Manager for Idaho EPSCoR for seven years. She is a family history buff and loves spending time with her family.
