Alexa joined the Grants and Research Team for the Office of Research in the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine in March 2025. Previously, at the School of Medicine, she worked programmatically on HRSA-funded multi-year awards for the Department of Internal Medicine and for the Department of Family & Community Medicine. On the UNLV main campus, Alexa was a part of the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (VPUE) as a Program Director for the Fall 2022 installment of the First Year Experience.

Before working at UNLV, Alexa was in Asia for 3 years— managing projects that spanned 7 countries and 3 continents. As a Project Manager, at an angel investment network, she supported early-stage startups to prepare to scale for Series A funding. She consulted & mapped industries in developing nations that were primed for investments. Matching the correct funding opportunity and facilitating the ease of consumption to complex ideas is what she continues to bring to the School of Medicine.

Raised in Las Vegas and San Francisco, Alexa studied Finance at City University of Hong Kong and earned her B.S. in Business Management from San Francisco State University. Her main topics of interest after graduation include impact investing, design thinking, and applications of UX principles to social impact spaces. In her current role. Alexa hopes to continue to build positive relationships that give back to the local community through a strong focus on practical process, open communication, and diligence to meet appropriate needs. 

Outside academia, Alexa’s non-profit work include the following organizations: United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN), the American Association of the Philippines (AAP), The Norwegian Club of San Francisco, and the International Education Exchange Council (IEEC at SFSU)
