Biography

I am a Paleoanthropologist with a specific interest in the craniofacial evolution that occurred in Middle- Late Pleistocene hominins. Most of my research involves examination and analysis of the zygomatic bone and surrounding morphology. I am interested in more complex evolutionary questions, specifically regarding genetic drift, integration, and modularity, and how these relate to the hominin craniofacial region. In order to answer these more complex questions, I use computed tomography scans, 3- dimensional data collection, and Geometric Morphometrics as the framework for much of my research. In the Paleoanthropology Lab at UNLV, I have also recently incorporated 3D scanning and printing into my academic endeavors and Ph.D. research.

I have a master’s degree in anthropology from CSU Sacramento and am currently working on my Ph.D. at UNLV. I am also an instructor at the UNLV School of Medicine and the College of Southern Nevada.
