Biography

Alecia Schrenk is a biological anthropologist with experience in bioarchaeology. Her research interests range from broad questions about past human health and behaviors. Current research projects have focused on healthcare provisioning in prehistoric mobile hunter-gatherer groups and experiences of disability in the past. Past research has explored healthcare provisioning and experiences of impairment for chronic illnesses in the Archaic Midwestern communities of the United States. Other research interests include subadult health, violence, and the involvement of ritual/religion in healthcare. Her recent publications include co-editing Bioarchaeology of Care Through Population-Level Analyses and New Developments in the bioarchaeology of Care: Further Case Studies and Extended Theory.
