Adrian Martinez is a dedicated husband, father, and educational leader driven by a deep commitment to his community. His professional accomplishments are built on a foundation of faith, family, and heritage. He is the youngest of seven siblings born to Salvadoran parents who braved a civil war in the 1980s. While he manages expansive CCSD grant portfolios and pursues an Ed.D. at UNLV, his true “cultura” is found in the noise of Sunday league soccer while rooting for ADET, mornings fishing from his kayak at Lake Mead, and the shared joy of plátanos fritos con crema y frijoles at Esmeralda’s Cafe. These traditions, shared with his wife, his daughter, and their dog, Cooper (short for Cooperation), are the “why” behind his work.

He serves as a “homegrown” leader in the Las Vegas public education system because he believes in the potential of the students walking the same halls where he once sat as a kindergarten English language learner (ELL). His path toward an Ed.D. in educational leadership is fueled by a desire to help normalize Latino representation in executive spaces. He wants the next generation, including his own daughter, to see their potential reflected in the community’s highest offices as an expectation. By occupying these spaces, he hopes to create a landscape where youth feel inherently supported, culturally seen, and empowered to lead at every step.

His leadership style is defined by a grassroots approach, having lived it at every level of the system. He has served as a substitute teacher, licensed teacher, backup school nurse, and championship-winning soccer coach at the middle school level. His perspective was further broadened by his time teaching at Colegio Bilingüe de San Ramón in Alajuela, Costa Rica. There, he taught biology and English literature to native Spanish-speaking students, an experience that deepened his understanding of the Latino community, bilingual pedagogy, and international educational standards.

His commitment to service extends into the heart of the Latino professional network and civic life. As a founding board member and director of cultura for the UNLV Latino Alumni Club, he is dedicated to representation, advocacy, and respect. His leadership experience also includes serving as the national board president of Sigma Delta Alpha Fraternity Inc., where he transformed the organization’s fiscal standing, and more than a decade as a director for Nevada Boys State, empowering the next generation of civic leaders.
