Payment of Fees

Since the School of Dental Medicine receives part of its operating budget from its clinical programs, there are patient fees associated with the services rendered. However, these fees in the student or resident clinics are generally less than what one might pay in a private dental practice. The fees in the Faculty Dental Practice are comparable to a private dental office.

All fees are expected to be paid at the time of treatment. We accept cash, checks with proper identification, VISA, MasterCard and Discover credit cards. After completion of an insurance file, we will then accept direct payment from qualified insurances. Some procedures such as crowns, bridges, dentures and partial dentures may be paid in incremental payments as they require multiple appointments for completion. Since a significant portion of the total fee for these procedures is utilized to cover anticipated laboratory expenses, the remaining balance of the fee must be paid in full before the appliance is sent for processing.

Patients with commercial insurance are expected to pay our standard clinic fees in full until the insurance file is completed. These fees may be paid by any of the above mentioned methods. For non-qualified companies the business office will provide the patient with an appropriate standard insurance claim form with all necessary information completed for procedures performed at SDM. You may then submit this form to your individual insurance company for reimbursement according to your policy provisions.

The UNLV School of Dental Medicine attempts to keep fees as low as possible. However, rising costs of providing care may require fee increases. Fees may increase without notification. You will always be advised of the fee for a procedure before it is started.
