Dear International Students & Scholars,
We’re writing to inform you that we expect the final rule to be published in the United States Federal Register on July 17, 2026 regarding changes that may affect F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors. This update includes several significant changes to how students and exchange visitors are admitted to the United States and maintain their lawful immigration status.
If published on July 17, 2026, this final rule will take effect on September 15, 2026.
Due to the length and complexity of this final rule, the Office of International Student & Scholar Compliance (ISSC) and UNLV Global are carefully reviewing all the new information. We’re also working with our professional organization and outside immigration counsel to review each section of the final rule to provide accurate information to our international student and scholar community. We appreciate your patience as our team works through the details. Additional information will be shared once it has been reviewed and confirmed by our team.
UNLV deeply values our international students and scholars as vital members of our community. UNLV Global and ISSC remain committed to providing timely information, individualized guidance, and ongoing support as immigration policies evolve. We’ll continue to communicate directly with affected students and scholars and offer resources and care throughout this time.
Best Regards,
