UNLV has introduced a new review process for AI-enabled software purchases and renewals. As AI tools become more common across higher education, the review process helps address potential data, privacy, and compliance risks before tools are used for university work.

An AI Tool Review is required for:

• New software that uses or includes AI
• Renewals of software that uses AI
• Existing software adding new AI features or capabilities
• Requests to enable AI features in existing software

Before you buy, check whether a UNLV-supported tool already meets your needs. If you need ChatGPT, Claude or Google Gemini Pro, use the dedicated access request form.
