As the semester reaches its midpoint, this is a friendly reminder to prioritize vehicle and utility cart safety on campus.

When driving on behalf of UNLV or operating university-owned vehicles and carts, it's important to stay up to date with established procedures and requirements. Please review the following guidelines to maintain compliance and safety. 

Guidelines for UNLV Vehicles and Carts

  • Authorized Use: UNLV vehicles and carts must be used exclusively for conducting university business and should only be operated for their intended purpose.
  • Authorized Operators: Only UNLV employees, student workers, and documented volunteers are permitted to operate UNLV vehicles or carts.

Driver Requirements

To operate a UNLV vehicle, the following requirements must be met:

  1. Valid Driver’s License: Drivers must possess a current, valid driver’s license appropriate for the class of the vehicle they will operate.
  2. Acknowledgment Form: Drivers must read and sign the Vehicle Employee Acknowledgment Form 
  3. Defensive Driving Training

Golf Cart Safety Training

Employees operating golf carts on campus must complete cart safety training successfully before using them. 
Note: A driver's license and defensive driving training are not required for operating a cart.

Personal Vehicle Use for UNLV Business

Employees using their personal vehicles for university business must:

Adhering to these policies promotes safety, reduces liability, and supports responsible use of UNLV resources.
