The Sands Institute is collaborating with our Chinese partner Beijing Normal University (BNU) to send 15 UNLV students to study at BNU from December 12 to 23, 2026. Students will receive hands-on instruction related to Chinese culture, language, and history while experiencing it first-hand on visits to landmarks such as the Great Wall, Summer Palace, and Temple of Heaven.
The entire program in BNU and Beijing is covered by the Chinese Bridge grant from Chinese Language Education Cooperation. In addition, Sands Institute will provide $1800 towards international airfares.
Application timeline:
August 24: Application opens, interviews begin
September 20: Application closes
Mid October: Flight purchase
End of October: Visa application workshop
End of November: Pre-departure orientation
Early December: Final orientation
- Students accepted from Summer 2026 should apply but will not need to interview.
- Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis. The application will close when 15 candidates have been chosen.
