When I first arrived at UNLV as president in 2020, one of my first calls was to the university’s Military & Veteran Services Center (MVSC) to understand what they do and to offer my support.

I grew up in a military family, and I have a deep respect for our service men and women and all they do and have done for our nation. This includes the 1,650-plus military-affiliated students who are currently enrolled at UNLV.

I was thoroughly impressed by my initial meeting with center staff, and I continue to be motivated by their commitment to our student veterans – and by our student veterans’ commitment to their peers. So it’s no surprise that UNLV continues to be recognized among the best universities for student veterans.

Last week, UNLV was again ranked among the nation’s Top 10 ‘Military Friendly’ campuses of its size by veteran-owned non-profit Viqtory and G.I. Jobs Magazine. More than 1,800 schools nationwide were evaluated for various annual rankings, and UNLV was included among the nation’s best in the category of “Tier 1 Research Universities.”

Credit in large part goes to the MVSC, which for more than a decade has helped students navigate VA Education Benefits, admissions, enrollment, campus and community support services, and has helped veterans find employment opportunities after graduation.

I invite you to read more about UNLV’s latest Top 10 national ranking, or check out this video to learn more about the MVSC and its work. I am so proud to lead a university that’s supporting students who served our country in the past or who are making sacrifices for our country today.
