Tarkanian Way Maintenance Project Begins Monday, June 1
UNLV will begin road maintenance on Tarkanian Way around the Thomas & Mack Center (TMC) beginning Monday, June 1. The project will extend the roadway’s lifespan and improve traffic flow and safety. Work will take place in multiple phases and is expected to be completed in August.
Phase 1 includes the closure of Tarkanian Way to all traffic between Thomas and Mack Center Drive and East Harmon Avenue, as well as the access road behind TMC and Thunder Lot. The closure does not apply to first responders.
As part of Phase 2, Tarkanian Way is expected to reopen by the end of June. The access road behind TMC and Thunder Lot will remain closed until reopening in August.
Phase 1 Parking and Traffic Alternative Routes
- Parking is accessible in the Tropicana Garage and surrounding TMC lots if entering on the south side of campus
- Alternative Route 1: To access Harmon Ave. area
- Take University Center Dr. heading north to Harmon Ave. and turn east
- Alternative Route 2: To access the south side of campus
- Take Tropicana Avenue turning north onto Wilbur Avenue or take University Center Drive turning right onto Thomas and Mack Drive.
