Dear University Community,
 
As we shared yesterday, UNLV learned of a nationwide cybersecurity incident involving Instructure, the parent company for Canvas, which supports our WebCampus learning management system. Canvas has been experiencing an outage that is impacting the university and other educational institutions across Nevada and the country.   
 
We understand that it’s the end of the semester and the timing of the outage has the potential to disrupt final exams and projects. Faculty are asked to remain flexible with students during this time as access to materials, assignments, and communication tools may be limited or unavailable.
 
The UNLV Office of Information Technology is in contact with NSHE and the parent company of Canvas and continues its ongoing assessment. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as additional information becomes available and no later than tomorrow morning. As a reminder, never open any links in suspicious messages.
