New open-access series gives undergraduate economics research a life beyond the classroom.

Research does not have to end when the semester does.

The UNLV Undergraduate Economics Working Paper Series is now live, creating a public home for student research developed through the Molasky Family Department of Economics and Real Estate at UNLV’s Lee Business School.

The open-access series gives students an opportunity to share original economics research developed with faculty mentorship while allowing other students, faculty, researchers and members of the public to explore their work.

The series launches with 15 papers spanning four semester issues from Spring 2024 through Spring 2026. Topics range from gambling behavior and Las Vegas casino revenue to education, finance, labor, environmental economics and public policy.

Each working paper has its own page featuring an abstract, research information and downloadable PDF. Papers can also be explored by semester or subject area.

The series is designed as one step in a broader undergraduate research pathway. Students may develop research through coursework or independent projects, share working papers through the series, present their research through UNLV’s Office of Undergraduate Research symposia and continue revising their work for potential publication.

Unlike peer-reviewed journal articles, working papers represent research in progress and may continue to evolve as students receive feedback and refine their work.

The UNLV Undergraduate Economics Working Paper Series is led by faculty editors Djeto Assané and Eric Chiang, with Mark Jayson Farol serving as series organizer and platform builder.
