The Course
HON 410.1011 – Modalities of Citizenship
Dr. Bryan Blankfield
TR, 10:00–11:15 a.m. | Spring 2027
Trip Dates: March 16–18, 2027
How does one perform citizenship? In this seminar, offered during the 84th Nevada Legislature, students will explore diverse modalities of civic engagement from a rhetorical perspective. They will also have a unique opportunity to participate firsthand in the legislative process in Carson City. Course readings and discussions will be enriched by guest lectures from lobbyists and legislators. Together, we will better understand our roles and responsibilities as citizens in the current age.
Donor-Funded Trip to Carson City
Thanks to the generosity of the Investment Counsel Company of Nevada (ICC) and Founder and CEO Randy Garcia, enrolled students will travel to Carson City over Spring Break to take part in legislative sessions and meet in person with the Governor. All expenses — including air travel, ground transportation, lodging, and meals — are courtesy of the generosity of the ICC and will come at no cost to students.
Travel Dates: March 16–18, 2027 (Tuesday–Thursday)
