Reporting to the Associate Director of Alumni Engagement, the graduate assistant for alumni engagement in the College of Education will be integral in executing events and initiatives that support and develop students and alumni of the college's academic programs. The successful candidate will connecting with any number of the 23K college alumni across the globe to assist the facilitation of their “time, talent, and treasure” to support UNLV and its current students. Additionally, the GA will disseminate information to both students and alumni related to the UNLV Alumni Association, the COE Alumni Chapter, the many benefits and discounts that alumni receive, and all of the ways COE supports its alumni.

This position falls under the Dean’s Office so this position may also support other COE-wide initiatives such as the Annual EdExpo.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Alumni outreach and database management
  • Special event planning, budgeting, advertising, executing, and evaluation
  • Participating in UNLV, COE, and departmental commencements, graduation celebrations, GradFests, and other similar events
  • Assisting with the celebration and communication of alumni accomplishments through social media and story generation
  • Supporting the college's alumni chapter as an extension of college and the UNLV Alumni Association
  • Assisting the assistant director with strategic AE initiatives and task forces
  • Attending all related meetings, trainings, and events
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

  • Office and computer skills with a focus on Google Suite required
  • The ability to lift and move objects and equipment up to 25 lbs. required
  • Outgoing and personable demeanor with the ability to communicate and connect with others
  • Experience with event logistics and project management preferred
