Exciting opportunities are opening up for UNLV Film students as they continue to make their mark in the entertainment industry. This fall, the International Film and Video Association has once again selected UNLV as the exclusive university partner for internships at the American Film Market (AFM)—a major industry event that brings together film buyers, distributors, and producers from around the globe.
This year’s AFM takes place in Los Angeles, and UNLV has been invited to send 40 student interns to represent the university. With hundreds of schools vying for a spot, being chosen again is a tremendous honor. To make this happen, the department is launching an urgent fundraising campaign to raise $40,000 to cover the costs of safe housing and transportation for the eight-day trip in November.
Supporters are encouraged to contribute through the university’s donation portal: https://www.unlv.edu/film/support. Be sure to include “internship housing” under the “additional instructions” tab. Every contribution—big or small—helps bring this opportunity to life for our students.
Meanwhile, five standout UNLV Film students have been selected for one of the most competitive internships in the industry: the Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) Summer Internship. Over 70 students applied, and after a thorough review by WBD executives, 10 finalists were interviewed by a top-tier panel including Dan Dark (EVP, Worldwide Studio Productions), Barry Ziehl (SVP, Public Affairs and Strategic Initiatives), and Caroline Lett (Executive Director, Business Development and Special Events).
The selected students will spend six weeks rotating through multiple departments at the Warner Bros. Discovery studio lot. This elite experience includes hands-on training, mentorship opportunities, networking with industry leaders, and access to exclusive studio events.
Both of these prestigious programs exemplify the real-world opportunities UNLV Film continues to create for its students. With your support, we can ensure even more students gain access to these invaluable experiences.
