UNLV grad in cap and gown pointing at a Department of Art sign on campus
Dec. 9, 2025

The Department of Art is thrilled to celebrate Lorenzo Williams, who recently presented his research project, “From Dante’s Inferno to California: Visualizing the Marginalized in Sandow Birk’s Social Critique,” at the UNLV OUR 2025 Undergraduate Research Symposium. His work offers a powerful and timely exploration of art, literature, and social justice, and he delivered it with the thoughtfulness, clarity, and passion that have defined his academic journey.

We are also incredibly proud to share that Lorenzo was selected as one of UNLV’s Outstanding Graduates, an honor reserved for only a small group of exceptional students each semester. Nominated by faculty and chosen by President Chris Heavey, this recognition highlights not only Lorenzo’s academic achievements, but also his leadership, dedication, and contributions to the university community.

Lorenzo graduates this December with a BA in Art and a minor in Art History and plans to continue his studies in Art History at the graduate level. We cannot wait to see the impact he will make beyond UNLV. Congratulations, Lorenzo!
