Sydney Galindo, a UNLV Art alumna ('22), traveled to Los Angeles this past weekend for a screening of her directorial debut, Unseen Territories, at the Democracy Center of the Japanese American National Museum as part of its 2026 Civic Season programming (now through July 4).

Galindo was joined by cinematographer Shahab Zargari, producer Elsa Cantú, and featured artists Naes Pierott (BFA, '23), Jesus Orozco, and Lance L. Smith (BFA, '11) who also participated in a workshop connected to the event.

Unseen Territories is an award-winning documentary and community-engaged performance project that reimagines public space through the stories it holds. Civic Season brings together America’s newest and oldest federal holidays to inspire reflection on the nation’s past while encouraging civic engagement and dialogue about its future.
