On October 2, 2025, Professor of Landscape Architecture and Director of the UNLV School of Architecture, Danny Ortega, was honored with the Bill Tomiyasu Memorial Award at the Desert Green Conference. The award recognizes his more than twenty-five years of service as an educator and leader whose vision and dedication have greatly advanced the academic and professional landscapes of architectural design in Southern Nevada and beyond.
