Shaun Franklin-Sewell, director of marketing and patron services for the UNLV Performing Arts Center, recently earned designation as a certified venue professional from the International Association of Venue Managers.

Throughout the year mid-level venue industry professionals receive their Certified Venue Professional (CVP) designation from the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM). CVP applicants are rated on their experience and accomplishments in public venue management and must successfully complete a comprehensive written examination that tests general knowledge of the public venue management profession. The Certified Venue Professional (CVP) designation is a distinguished credential that recognizes an individual who has demonstrated operational competence and a deep commitment to the advancement of the venue management industry. Positioned at the intersection of experience and ambition, CVPs are proven leaders in middle to senior-level management roles across a diverse range of venues.

IAVM’s Board Chair, Stacey Church, CVE said “The Certified Venue Professional designation reflects a commitment to growth, learning, and professional excellence. I applaud our newest CVP recipients for investing in their development and embracing the values that define IAVM. This recognition not only elevates each individual’s career, it strengthens our entire community by ensuring that we continue to lead with knowledge, purpose, and passion.”

Shaun Franklin-Sewell, who has been with the UNLV Performing Arts Center since 2003, is among the 2025 venue management professionals to be awarded a CVP this year. “With over 22 years in the industry, our organization is extremely lucky to have such a dedicated, highly trained and well-regarded individual in our ranks,” says Lori Cobo, Executive Director of the UNLV Performing Arts Center. The CVP designation is an indication of demonstrated skill in professional growth, activity in community affairs and development of knowledge within the management of public venues.
