CILECT North America is proud to co-sponsor an upcoming symposium on The Future of Accessibility in Arts Education, which will have an in-person audience at UNLV (in FDH 109) and be available via Zoom to guests who would like to attend remotely. (All are welcome, including students.)

As technology rapidly evolves, educators in the arts have a critical opportunity to re-imagine accessibility as a fundamental catalyst for creativity--and to dismantle existing barriers for artists, students, and audiences.

The Future of Accessibility in Arts Education will feature two expert guests who have extensive experience engaging with the frameworks, frontiers, and practical realities of access in the arts.

Dr. Ashley Shew of Virginia Tech, who is attending in person, will discuss "How to Think about Accessibility" in a talk that includes time for Q&A and will run from 9:00 to 10:15 am PDT (12:00 to 1:15 pm EDT)

Dominick Evans, who is attending via Zoom, will share his insights as a filmmaker dealing with disabilities and a long-time advocate for improving accessibility for artists. His session, which includes time for Q&A, will run from 10:45 am to 12:00 pm PDT (1:45 to 3:00 pm EDT).

Here is the Zoom link for both sessions.

You can also click HERE to save this event to your Google Calendar (which includes the Zoom link).

We hope that you can join us for this dynamic symposium, which we believe will foster invaluable conversations about moving toward a new era of ARTS FOR ALL, in which any person, regardless of their perceptual and physical abilities, has full access to study, create, and enjoy the arts.
