About Fringe Marketplace
The Fringe Marketplace is a dedicated showcase platform for programmers, presenters, and commissioners looking to book work from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The shows on Fringe Marketplace are all being presented by professional companies who have indicated that they're ready to tour and collaborate. Its purpose is to help industry professionals find work that fits programming specifications and to also be a valuable platform for artists seeking onward touring and development opportunities. Each show on the marketplace lists plans and aspirations in individual show listings, the site includes videos and press materials provided by the company. Accredited industry professionals will be able to request tickets to see shows.
Significance to UNLV
This is the first time, in our 26 year history of going to the Fringe, that a UNLV show was accepted to be part of the Fringe Marketplace, a venue for professional shows supporting their onward development and performance life. The show underwent accreditation and met all of the requirements of a professional company and professional show, making it eligible to be viewed by industry professionals who are looking to invite shows for performances in other festivals and other venues. The show will also be evaluated by those looking to license the work for performances by other companies, the possibility for the show to be turned into a script, or move from stage to screen.
Fringe marketplace also makes us more visible to those reviewing shows for possible Fringe Awards.
One of the big goals of getting into the marketplace was not to have a show that we then tour all over the world, but to be in the same category as the most professional shows at the festival. To be seen with this class of artists and productions.
