We join Nevada's education community in mourning the loss of former State Senator Joyce Woodhouse. An educator, advocate, and proud UNLV alumna, Senator Woodhouse devoted her life to expanding opportunities for students and strengthening public education. Her leadership and service left an enduring impact on countless students, educators, and families.

A double Rebel with two master’s degrees in education from UNLV, Senator Woodhouse was inducted into the inaugural class of the UNLV College of Education Hall of Fame in 2024, recognizing her extraordinary contributions to education. As a legislator, she played a pivotal role in advancing educator preparation and championing initiatives that strengthened both UNLV and Nevada education as a whole.

Above all, Senator Woodhouse was an inspiration to so many in our community. Her passion, leadership, and unwavering commitment to students and educators will leave a lasting legacy.
