Dr. Sharolyn Pollard-Durodola has been selected at the Dunn Endowed Chair for Educational Assessment effective July 1, 2023. 

The Dunn Endowed Chair of Educational Assessment is expected to lead, innovate, and conduct research to support the strategic advancement of educational outcomes and assessment among diverse learners, with particular attention to multilingual learners. The Dunn Endowed Chair builds and sustains:

  • Strategic interdisciplinary research partnerships to support educational outcomes and assessment
  • Doctoral education program capacity that enhances doctoral students' scholarship and practice in educational outcomes and assessment
  • Strategic community partnerships to increase and coalesce knowledge regarding educational outcomes and assessment

Dr. Pollard-Durodola arrived at UNLV in 2015 as a professor in the English Language Learning program. Prior to her arrival, she served as the Morgridge Endowed Associate Professor of Literacy at the University of Denver as well as held faculty and research positions at Texas A&M University, Houston Medical School, and University of Texas-Houston. As a UNLV faculty member, she has served as the English Language Learning (ELL) program coordinator, faculty liaison for the Holmes Scholars program, and chair of the English Mastery Council, to name a few roles. She recently received the Fulbright Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Award, which allowed scholarly activity in India. Throughout her career, she received more than $10 million in federal grants to advance ELL scholarship and promote educational outcomes and assessment.
