Construction on the new Brussels Street Parking Garage is underway. The state-of-the-art facility, located south of the UNLV Transit Center, will add approximately 1,250 parking spaces for students, faculty, and staff.
During construction there will be temporary and ongoing impacts to parking and traffic. Please review the following information and plan accordingly.
Parking and Traffic Impacts
- Parking lot Z, is closed for the duration of the project.
- Parking lots U, and H will close on Thursday, May 7 and will remain closed permanently. This will be the site of the future garage.
- Staff parking is available in Resident Lot A.
- Brussels Street from Joe Delaney Lane to University Road will be closed.
- Brussels Street will remain open between Tropicana Avenue and Lot F and Resident Lot A. These lots will remain accessible.
- Entering / exiting campus: Use Maryland Parkway at Harmon Avenue / E. Maude Frazier Way.
Upcoming Utility Work
As work continues on the Brussels Street Parking Garage, the following construction activities may cause brief traffic delays. Workers will direct traffic throughout the affected areas.
- June 26 - July 10
- Trenching work will occur on Brussels Street south of the project site, from the Newman Center entrance, past the School of Architecture, to the Brussels Connector intersection.
- July 13 - July 24
- Trenching work will occur across University Road from the entrance of the UNLV Transit Center to the adjacent antenna farm.
Building Access
- The Newman Center will remain accessible from Brussels Street
- The LDS Institute will remain accessible from the north
Project Timeline
- Construction begins: mid-May 2026
- Expected completion: Summer 2027
- Garage opening: Fall 2027
The garage will emphasize safety and accessibility with improved visual guides for drivers and pedestrians. It will also support UNLV’s sustainability goals with rooftop solar panels and electric vehicle charging stations. Amenities such as shaded areas, seating, and a food pantry are also planned.
