The purpose of this policy is to support the safe and compliant use of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), commonly referred to as drones at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).  This policy serves to support the safe and compliant use of UAS while mitigating associated risks and ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local laws as well as regulations and contracts.  Additionally, given UNLV’s proximity to Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) and other regional airports, this policy emphasizes airspace safety and compliance with applicable FAA requirements.
