Biography

Dr. Sonja Taneska-Proctor is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the states of Nevada and California. She received her Psychology doctorate degree from California Southern University, Master's Degree in Higher Education and Master's Degree in Community Counseling from Ohio University and a Bachelor's Degree in Linguistics with an emphasis on Slavistic Studies from Sv. Kiril i Mtodij, North Macedonia, Eastern Europe. 

Dr. Sonja Taneska-Proctor has been in private practice since 2013 and is a contracted provider for many Employee Assistance Programs (EAP). She has served as a DUI Violation Evaluator with the Department of Transportation (DOT). She has worked closely with the Victim Assistance Compensation Program assisting victims of crime, domestic violence and human trafficking cases.  Some of her areas of additional clinical focus include: problem gambling treatment, forensics, working with clients with criminogenic history, chemical dependency, PTSD cases including providing clinical services for veterans affected by combat-related trauma, individuals diagnosed with HIV/AIDS and palliative care patients. Professional affiliations include: UCLA CalGets Gambling Studies and Research Program - Establishing Best Practices in Treatment of Gamblers and Affected Individuals and NCCHC - National Commission on Correctional Health Care. She is a Nationally Certified Correctional Counselor known for her advocacy in Improving the Quality of Mental Health Services in Correctional Settings.

Dr. Sonja Taneska-Proctor is a first-generation immigrant who arrived in the US during the Cold War. Her personal interests include traveling to far away destinations and 19th Century European literature.
