Biography

Rob Goald has over 30 years of experience as a journalist, author, filmmaker, broadcast studio specialist, radio producer, and educator. He owned a production company called Painting with Light Productions and produced commercials, industrials and documentary films. He was a broadcast studio specialist for the USDA Graduate School and a DGA (Directors Guild of America) associate on the Hollywood features Streets of Fire, Johnny Dangerously, and The Flintstones.

Goald is the author of a Focal Press book/video entitled "Behind the Scenes at the Local News". He has been a freelance journalist for numerous publications, including the Journal of Film & Video,the Baltimore Sun, the Baltimore City Paper, In-Motion Magazine, Markee Magazine, and Sculpture Magazine, and has served as Senior Editor at Film Festival Today since 2004.

Goald has been a full-time faculty member at numerous colleges and universities, including Baltimore City Community College, American University, Fitchburg State College and DeSales University. He served as an adjunct professor at UMBC (the University of Maryland, Baltimore County) and Towson University. He's been teaching film studies courses for UNLV FILM since 2006.

Goald was inducted into The Las Vegas Film Critics Society in 2010. He has been a “foodie” since the 1970s, when he moved to San Francisco from Baltimore, and has dined extensively all over the United States, Canada, and Europe. He is presently working on a book about the best indie (independent) films ever made, across the globe.
