Pamela grew up with a heavy influence of music. Her family loved it and so did she from a young age. Watching her father play all types of instruments helped contribute to her passion for music that eventually led her to become an on-air talent. While not originally seeing herself working at a radio station, she got offered a job at KUNV in March 2001 and has been working with them ever since.

With her strong love of music, specifically smooth jazz and old school R&B, Pamela can name her favorite artists by ear. She can take one listen to a song and she’ll know who is playing, like her favorite keyboard player, Brian Simpson, for example. She also appreciates Boney James’ skill with a saxophone and Maysa Leak’s killer vocals.

As a host, Pamela loves that she gets to inspire her audience to be better people. “I don’t think there is an age limit to bettering your character,” Pamela said. “Music is a great gateway to getting there.” Pamela believes that it is important to utilize her platform as a musical channel/outlet for listeners to clear their minds and receive positivity.

Pamela’s positivity between her and her listeners isn’t just a one-way street. She has loyal listeners that have been following her for years. She remains greatly appreciative of those who have stuck by her side during her time on air and just as grateful for the ones who plan to continue doing so.

Pamela’s advice for UNLV students pursuing radio is to “do what you’re born to do, be true about what you say, and implement something that helps others.”
