Biography
Aaron Cowan (he/him/they) is a visiting assistant professor and Sculpture Area Head at UNLV. His art practice challenges traditional notions of masculinity and social expectations of men through sculpture, including video, performance, installation, and fibers. He earned his BFA with a concentration in 3D Sculpture from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and his MFA from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Cowan was co-founder, director, and curator of the SWINE gallery, ARC Residency, and Art Coordinator for the Chattanooga Film Festival, receiving grants from Bonnaroo Works Fund, Footprint Foundation, and the UnFoundation. He has exhibited nationally and internationally in Los Angeles & Joshua Tree, California; Nashville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga, Tennessee; South Dakota & Arkansas; South Korea; and China.
