Description

Analysis and interpretation of the impact of industrialization, immigration and urbanization upon the American experiment in republicanism. Examines how diverse Americans, including ex-slaves, farmers, feminists, 'new' immigrants, Plains Indians, radicals, soldiers, statesmen, industrialists and laborers responded to these unsettling conditions and helped to usher in the modern age. This course is crosslisted with HIST 415A. Credit at the 600-level requires additional work.
