The second installment of the Workday Security Roles series highlights two of the most common position-based Workday security roles and seven functions available to these roles.

Employee and Contingent Worker "As Self" Roles

Every employee and contingent worker receives "as-self" roles that allow them to complete the following Workday transactions:

  1. View and modify personal data (e.g., p, contact information, emergency contacts, benefit elections, I-9, dependents, etc.)
  2. View and modify scheduled report data
  3. View and modify payroll input data (e.g., direct deposit and banking information, taxation, etc.)
  4. View and modify time off and leave
  5. View and modify their personal spend authorizations and expense reports
  6. View requisitions, receipts, and supplier invoice requests
  7. Request grant-in-aid

Human Capital Management (HCM) / HR Manager Roles

Human Capital Management (HCM) / HR manager roles are assigned to employees who supervise other employees. This role is assigned to the supervisory organization. Those in this role can complete the following transactions in Workday:

  1. Approve HCM (HR) business processes
  2. Hire employees and contract contingent workers
  3. Create positions and job requisitions
  4. Request compensation changes and job changes, including initiating terminations
  5. Add leave for subordinates
  6. Add and approve time card transactions for subordinates
  7. Approve finance business processes such as spend authorizations and expense reports

Stay tuned for the third installment of the series, which will cover two common HCM position-based Workday security roles.
