Telecommunications encourages departments and units to budget for the periodic replacement of campus Cisco VoIP phones. The 88XX series devices function like smartphones with screens, cameras (select models), and an operating system that allows for upgrades, including new features and other benefits as they become available. Due to the nature of this technology, VoIP phones also have a limited lifecycle and should be replaced every five years.
