In the diverse world of international students, Adrian and Winnie stand as shining examples of dedication, ambition, and commitment to lifelong learning. Their unique backgrounds and careers have taken them on remarkable journeys, and they are sharing their story with us.

Adrian hails from Romania, a country known for its rich history and vibrant culture. However, he had his sights set on broader horizons early on. As a high school exchange student in the United States, he developed a passion for this side of the world. After completing high school, he returned to his homeland for university education. Yet, his heart remained in the United States. He eventually returned and embarked on an impressive educational and professional journey.

Adrian’s university education began at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), where he pursued a bachelor of science degree in finance. He initially gained experience in financial planning and analysis as an intern and steadily climbed the corporate ladder at MGM Resorts International as an analyst, senior analyst, and eventually transitioned into a treasury role. This experience was a stepping stone in Adrian's career, culminating in his role as the vice president of finance and treasurer at the Cosmopolitan, and eventually, an opportunity at NV Energy where he currently works as the company’s treasurer.

Winnie, originally from Shanghai, China, had her path firmly set on the hospitality industry. She attended César Ritz Colleges in Switzerland, earning her associate degree in hospitality management. Her journey took an exciting turn when she decided to study at UNLV's prestigious William F. Harrah College of Hospitality. Her experiences and passion for finance eventually led her to pursue an MBA in finance at Lee Business School.

After graduation, Winnie embarked on a professional journey that included internships at Wealth Management Group and a position with the Investment Counsel Company. Her path led her to College Loan Corporation, where she currently serves as the vice president of capital markets.

Adrian and Winnie's paths converged at UNLV during their MBA studies. They first met in one of Dr. Mel Jameson's classes. Adrian sat behind Winnie, and it was in this academic setting that they got to know each other. While the class was centered around finance, they didn’t realize that this connection would lead to not only a deeper understanding of their coursework but also a personal and professional bond that would shape their future endeavors. Their meeting at UNLV marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey filled with unwavering support, shared aspirations, and a lasting partnership that thrives to this day.

Adrian and Winnie's life is a beautiful fusion of family and professional growth. They are proud parents to two children, Matthew, 16, and Amelie, 12. Navigating the roles of working parents can be challenging at times, but they have embraced the journey with open arms.

Both agree that their most rewarding investment has been in education, from their MBA degrees to their children's schooling. They value travel as an enriching experience, especially for their children, who gain exposure to diverse cultures and lifestyles due to their international backgrounds.

The couple's free time is scarce but cherished. Between kids' activities and busy work schedules, they find joy in catching up with lifelong friends from their college and graduate school days. They also relish traveling, staying active, and watching their favorite sports team, the Vegas Golden Knights.

Adrian and Winnie recall their favorite courses in their MBA experience. For Winnie, it was the finance courses and inspiring professors like Dr. Chatfield and Dr. Sullivan that made her journey unforgettable. For Adrian, the economics and statistics classes were particularly impactful. He fondly remembers Dr. Wimmer's microeconomics class.

For Winnie, success in the MBA Program is about broadening one's business knowledge and viewing its environment from a new perspective. It's a chance for career reevaluation and rediscovering one's interests and strengths. Adrian emphasizes the importance of active participation in class and networking. He credits his success to the connections he made through group projects and encourages current students to do the same.

In parting, Adrian and Winnie offer this advice to current MBA students. They emphasize utilizing the resources available, connecting with professors, and maintaining relationships with alumni and the student community. They encourage students to put in hard work, maintain a positive attitude, and take pride in their work, as these qualities will set them on a path to success.

Adrian and Winnie exemplify the transformative power of education and the remarkable opportunities it can provide. Their journeys inspire us to chase our dreams, embrace challenges, and celebrate the fusion of different cultures and experiences.
