The Nevada Legislature hosted Veterans and Military Day on March 15! The day honored Nevada’s service members, veterans, and their families, including those who are attending UNLV in pursuit of a degree!

UNLV’s Rebel Vets Organization, with support from the Office of Government and Community Engagement, facilitated the trip to Carson City. The day began with a networking event at the Nevada Library and Archives building, followed by the Opening Ceremony featuring Governor Joe Lombardo. The Nevada National Guard also hosted a resource fair to connect veterans and their families with important resources, and attendees enjoyed a catered lunch with their counterparts from across Nevada.

Following lunch, the Executive Director of UNLV’s Military and Veteran Services Center, Ross Bryant, and several members of the Rebel Vet family, (James Eden, President;  Jeff Detrick, Past President; Kemisha Westbrook, Woman Veterans Programs Coordinator; and Jacelynnmariee Aichiu, Rebel Vet Member) met with legislators, including Assemblyman Brian Hibbetts and UNLV Alumni and Veteran (USMC) Assemblyman Reuben DiSilva, to discuss eleven priority veteran bills of consideration.

Rebel Vets are grateful to be honored by the Nevada Legislature, and appreciate the time legislators spent with them to hear about issues that are important to Nevada Veterans and their families!
