Where: Blasco Event Wing, UNLV Foundation Building
When: Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

According to the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching:

The purpose of community engagement is the partnership of college and university knowledge and resources with those of the public and private sectors to enrich scholarship, research, and creative activity; enhance curriculum, teaching and learning; prepare educated, engaged citizens; strengthen democratic values and civic responsibility; address critical societal issues; and contribute to the public good.

Join us as we explore the many ways UNLV is living up to this purpose, hear from colleagues actively engaged in this work, and connect with others to build or expand your community engagement campus network.

  • Visit the Poster Gallery to learn about UNLV faculty, staff, and student community engagement activities.
  • Hear from your colleagues about their community engagement work during a panel discussion facilitated by Kyle Kaalberg, Executive Director for Strategy and Strategic Initiatives in the Office of the President. Panelists include:
    • Deirdre Clemente, Ph.D., Associate Director, Public History Program, College of Liberal Arts
    • Devan Harris, M.Ed.A, Associate Director, Early Outreach, Office of Admissions
    • Erika Marquez, Ph.D., MPH, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental and Occupational Health, School of Public Health
    • Jeff Shih, Ph.D., Associate Dean of Student and Community Engagement, College of Education

Lunch will be provided during the event, and registration is required to attend.

We can't wait to see you on October 12!
