We are excited to introduce you to Rebecca Paulson, a talented professional with a remarkable career path at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, currently working as the Executive Director for Administration & Division Shared Services in Business Affairs. She was recently recognized as an honorable mention for the Administrative Faculty of the Year award. Rebecca's story is a testament to the power of dedication and hard work in achieving success.

With over 20 years of experience in multiple departments on campus, Rebecca has made many meaningful contributions that have impacted the UNLV community. She developed the Supplier Self-Service and Registration system for Purchasing, helped to develop standards for technical documentation and change management processes for the MyUNLV developers, and is most proud of the growth of her team into a department and the beginnings of a Shared Services model. Her dedication to improving processes and solving problems is evident in her work and her passion for it.

When asked what being recognized as the honorable mention for the Administrative Faculty of the Year means to her, she shares that it is a recognition of her and her team's accomplishments. She stresses the importance of owning one's accomplishments and accepting praise while continuing to demonstrate the success of ideas to encourage others to adopt them. This recognition tells her that she is on the right path. Being a Rebel means being unafraid to question standards and norms, to ask the hard questions, and to forge ahead. As she states, "introspection, growth, and continuous improvement are the mindset of a true Rebel."

Rebecca shares some of the best advice she has received: "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." She believes it's true for everything in life. Her former team lead used to say, "I reserve the right to suck at this" when faced with a difficult task. This helped her to build the courage to take on opportunities and problems that felt overwhelming.

When not busy with work commitments, Rebecca practices daily routines that allow her to work out and practice Spanish. Her true hobby is reading. She loves science fiction novels, especially the ones where the protagonist is an average person stumbling their way through the plot. Her love for puzzles and problem-solving keeps her motivated in her work. She currently lives in rural Clark County, in a small town called Logandale, and enjoys the quiet life surrounded by ranch animals.

Rebecca's future goals involve evaluating her experience and education to see how she can become a CIO. Her passion for application development and making something that helps make somebody else's day go smoother continues to drive her in her career.

We are honored to have Rebecca as a part of the UNLV community and are excited to see what the future holds for her.
