Meet a rising star in the UNLV community who recently received the Junior Administrative Faculty of the Year award, an impressive achievement that celebrates her excellent work and dedication to the campus community.

Her most recent and meaningful contribution to the academic advising community was her work to receive a $25,000 grant from the Stupski Foundation, which led to the creation of the Academic Wellness Commission. The commission developed various wellness initiatives to make academic advising a sustainable profession at UNLV. In addition, she worked with the Adult Learner Advisory Board to collaborate more with campus partners in Student Life, which established the CSUN Adult Learner Scholarship, offering ten students a $1,000 scholarship each.

For her, being a UNLV Rebel means giving back to the community by helping others succeed. She believes that access to equitable and excellent education with a supportive community that promotes collaboration, integrity, and stewardship is the key to success.

The Junior Administrative Faculty of the Year award made her feel very appreciated by her colleagues and the institution, motivating her to continue working towards her goals to support others. Her best advice to others is to speak up more, ask questions, and work collectively to advocate for changes when necessary.

She enjoys living in Las Vegas, particularly the wide variety of food options available. Outside work, she likes spending time with her family and friends, binge-watching TV shows and movies, and is a big fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

She is a shining example of the hard work and dedication that drives UNLV forward. Despite the misconceptions about the role of academic advisors, she believes in the unique position that they hold and advocates for students’ success by creating a meaningful experience at UNLV. Her future goals are to continue to support the academic advising community, build more connections through campus and the community, and participate in more UNLV leadership activities and programs to hopefully take on a leadership role on campus.

We are honored to have someone like her as part of the UNLV community, and we hope that her achievements inspire others to continue working toward excellence in their profession. Congratulations to the Junior Administrative Faculty of the Year!
