    The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers placement testing designed to provide information about the academic skills of students entering mathematics courses at UNLV. The primary function of the placement test is to help determine if a student is prepared for a college-level mathematics course, or if the student would benefit from a developmental course.

Welcome to the Department of Mathematical Sciences. Mathematics is the foundation for many technical and scientific fields. Mathematics aids and supplements our intuitions about the physical universe and about human behavior. The math department provides a broad spectrum of courses and opportunities in mathematics and statistics.
