Register for UNLV “Fostering Scholars” Charity Golf Fundraiser

Southern Nevadans can golf for a good cause on Monday, April 29 as UNLV and supporters Blake and Lynda Maxfield team up to host the second ever UNLV “Fostering Scholars” Charity Golf Fundraiser. The event, which takes place at the Conestoga Golf Course in Mesquite, supports UNLV students who’ve experienced foster care and are transitioning from high school to university life. Students in UNLV’s Fostering Scholars Program have access to specialized university and community-based resources that address educational, social, emotional, physical, and financial needs. The program currently serves almost 50 UNLV students.

The Fostering Scholars program launched in 2021 and is supported in part by a grant from the Walter S. Johnson Foundation. Additional funds are essential because most students still experience notable financial gaps after drawing on every available resource. These gaps include things like meals, basic needs, textbooks, transportation to campus, and between-semester housing.
