The Office of the Associate Vice Provost for Student Success is excited to announce the formation of a dynamic community of practice focused on peer mentoring. As we strive to foster a supportive and enriching academic environment, we recognize the pivotal role that mentoring plays in shaping the student experience. The practice is aligned with the university's Top Tier Strategic Plan, which underscores the significance of mentoring in student achievement.

To comprehensively understand and enhance the mentoring landscape on our campus, we are inviting individuals currently involved in mentoring programs or those passionate about establishing mentoring initiatives to come together.

The Peer Mentoring Community of Practice: This community will serve as a collaborative space to engage in meaningful discussions, share experiences, and reflect on current and best practices related to peer mentoring. By fostering an environment of collective learning, the group aims to amplify the impact of mentoring on student success.

How to Join: Express your interest by filling out our form by March 29. Once we have gathered responses, we will schedule a meeting in April.

Defining Peer Mentoring: For the purpose of this initiative, we adhere to the definition proposed by Egege and Kutieleh (2015, p.266), considering a peer mentor as "a more experienced fellow student to act as a mentor." This inclusive definition encourages a diverse representation within the community, recognizing the various forms that effective peer mentoring can take.
