Emergency Phone Testing Today

On Wednesday, March 13 from 7 a.m. - 1 p.m., UNLV Telecommunications, in coordination with University Police Services (UPD), will perform quarterly tests of all emergency phones on the Maryland and Shadow Lane campuses, medical buildings, and satellite locations.

The test will include a push button call to UPD and a test broadcast message. Both will be audible in the immediate surrounding area. The test message will include alarm tones and a voice recording noting, “This is a test.” Please note that a uniformed UNLV Telecom technician will be at each emergency phone as it is being tested.

We understand that the sights and sounds emanating from a broadcast message can cause anxiety and emotional reactions considering the tragedy of Dec. 6 and other crisis events. Consider avoiding the area at this time. Visit the UNLV Strong website for information about mental health and counseling resources if needed.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact Telecommunications at 702-895-3011 option 9.
