What Is a Registered Dietitian (RD)?

A Registered Dietitian (RD) has completed a bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college and completed both academic and experience requirements set by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Commission on Dietetic Registration. The RD must sit for a professional exam and maintain continuing education to maintain credentialing.

In Nevada, a nutritionist can be anyone who chooses to use the title, regardless of whether or not the person has any training in nutrition. In many states, a person must be an RD to use the title nutritionist.
